AT&T Mail (Yahoo-hosted)

Password
Sign in to your AT&T account profile, go to Settings, choose 'Add secure mail key', give it a nickname, click Create, then copy the key.
Good to know
Use the key for both IMAP and SMTP. AT&T recommends OAuth and needs a key only for clients without OAuth. Make one key per address/subaccount and per device. Keys never expire and survive password changes, but they are deleted if the account gets locked. POP is inbound.att.net:995 / outbound.att.net:465. The domain list comes from general knowledge and is not on the official page.

Sign in at AOL Account Security, choose Generate app password, name the app, and use the generated code.
Good to know
Verizon moved its mailboxes to AOL. Verizon's own KB lists smtp.verizon.net:465 SSL as the SMTP host for AOL-migrated accounts, and smtp.aol.com:465 also works. A few legacy accounts went to Yahoo instead: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net:993 SSL and outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net:465 SSL. AOL rejects the normal password from third-party IMAP clients. The help.aol.com page renders with JS, so the app-password requirement comes from AOL's general policy and third-party guides.

Password
In Xfinity Email on the web, open Settings > Security and turn on 'Third Party Access Security' for email programs.
Good to know
Without the toggle, IMAP and SMTP logins fail. Forum reports say a forced Xfinity password reset can turn the toggle back off. SMTP 465 SSL is the alternative. Port 25 is not supported, and POP 110 is retired (POP is pop3.comcast.net:995 SSL). Xfinity warns against third-party clients but still supports them.

Good to know
One host serves every legacy domain, and the old mail.twc.com hosts should not be used. SMTP needs authentication. Community reports say mailboxes are deleted a couple of months after internet service is cancelled. Spectrum's own settings page renders with JS. Verizon's KB corroborates the mobile.charter.net values. The brighthouse.com and spectrum.net domains are unverified.

Good to know
Cox moved cox.net mailboxes to Yahoo in waves during 2024–2025. The old imap.cox.net and smtp.cox.net settings no longer work. The normal password works in Yahoo webmail but not in IMAP clients. A Cox moderator also listed SMTP 587. Cox has no official settings page, so these values come from a third-party guide and Cox forums.

Good to know
CenturyLink moved all its email to a new back end in Oct 2022 and these hosts replaced the old ones. Brightspeed, which bought CenturyLink's ILEC areas, lets customers keep their CenturyLink email on the same servers. q.com is not on the official list, so its use of these settings is assumed and unverified. qwestoffice.net is separate and POP-only (pop.qwestoffice.net:110, smtp.qwestoffice.net:465 SSL). Port 25 is filtered. Mailboxes are 700MB with a 10MB send limit. On iPhone, enter the password for both incoming and outgoing.

Good to know
One host handles IMAP, POP and SMTP, and mail.optonline.net resolves to the same servers. Don't guess imap. or smtp. hostnames; they don't resolve. Suddenlink mailboxes share Optimum's mail system (shared MX) and should use mail.optimum.net, since mail.suddenlink.net doesn't resolve. Ports 143, 110 and 587 are 'legacy only'. Don't pair 465 with STARTTLS. On iOS, fill in the 'optional' outgoing password or sending fails.

Good to know
This is a major gotcha: a plain IMAP-password client may not be able to set up new Rogers accounts, because Rogers now steers users to OAuth and native Yahoo account setup. Third-party guides still describe app passwords from Yahoo Account Security. New rogers.com addresses stopped on April 3, 2024, while existing addresses still work. Settings change. Providers move their mail and change their rules, and entries marked Unconfirmed come from setup guides rather than the provider itself. If something here doesn't work, or your provider is missing, let us know. Your own provider's help pages always win.
