Changelog

What's new

Newest first. The Windows app and the web app have their own version numbers.

Link to your peep server

  • Link the Windows app to your peep server with the web PIN, once. The PC gets its own key, which you can revoke from the web.
  • Choose which server mailboxes to show. A PC mailbox with the same address switches off and can't be turned back on while its server twin is shown.
  • Server mailboxes get new mail live from the server, catch up on start, and stay usable offline: sends, moves, deletes, flags and drafts queue up and go out in order.
  • Keeps 30, 90, 180 or 365 days of mail on the PC; older mail downloads when opened.
  • Settings → Mailboxes: an Active checkbox on every mailbox, and Delete local data to free space without touching any server.
  • One address book shared with the web; the most recent edit wins.
  • Faster "server unreachable" errors: a refused connection now fails at once instead of waiting out the timeout.

Devices for linked PCs

  • Settings → Devices lists linked Windows apps, with Unlink.
  • Setting a new PIN signs out browsers but leaves linked PCs linked.
  • Server support for linked PCs: device keys, sync by change, safe retries of queued actions, and address-book and rule edits that keep their time.

Search and shortcuts

  • Search the whole folder on the server with Enter or Ctrl+Shift+F, with "quoted phrases" kept together.
  • A full set of keyboard shortcuts, and a cheat sheet on F1 or ?.
  • With the reading pane off, the list shows From, Subject and Date in columns.
  • Portable zip: keep a data folder next to the program and everything lives there.

Address book, new themes, pop-out messages

  • Address book, stored on the server and shared by every browser, with vCard and CSV import and export.
  • Address suggestions in To, Cc and Bcc.
  • Dark now uses the peep red; the original navy and cyan is kept as Classic. Unread count on the browser tab.
  • Drafts autosave and replace the previous save; closing with changes asks first.
  • Contact card on every sender and recipient.
  • Messages open in their own window, and changes there update the main list.
  • Folder rename and delete, mark all as read, rule ordering and Run all on Inbox.
  • Search the whole folder on the server, and a keyboard cheat sheet on ?.

Rules, folders and unread counts

  • Rules: move, mark read or flag new inbox mail by From, To, Subject or Body. Reorder them, switch them off, or run them on the inbox now.
  • Create, nest, rename and delete folders. Empty Trash and Spam.
  • Unread counts on every folder from the moment you connect, in the window title, the tray, and on the taskbar button.
  • Contact card on every sender and recipient.

Address book and text selection

  • Address book in its own window, with vCard and CSV import from Gmail, Outlook, AOL, Yahoo and iCloud, and export.
  • Select and copy text in messages; right-click for Copy, Open link and Copy link address.
  • Clickable links in plain-text messages.

Writing mail

  • Compose, reply, reply all and forward, with signatures per mailbox, attachments and address suggestions.
  • Drafts that save themselves, and a prompt before closing with changes.
  • Messages in their own windows.
  • mailto: links open a new message.

Reading mail

  • HTML messages drawn natively on a white page, with images, tables and styling. Wide newsletters scale to fit.
  • Remote images on or off, with a Load images button per message.
  • Scripts, frames and unsafe links blocked. Attachments open or save; programs are blocked from opening.

First Windows release

  • Native Windows app with four themes, a PIN lock, the tray and new-mail notifications.
  • Mailbox setup with ready-made settings for Gmail, AOL, Verizon, Yahoo, iCloud and Outlook.
  • Push mail over IMAP IDLE, with a check every minute.

First release

  • Several IMAP and SMTP mailboxes behind one PIN, with a 14-day unlock per device.
  • Sidebar per mailbox, message list and reading pane, with draggable dividers and the reading pane on or off per folder.
  • Read, write, reply and forward, with attachments and drafts.
  • The push service: live new mail and rules, even with no browser open.
  • Dark, Grey and Light themes, and a phone layout.
